Fat, by Eran Eads

Eran Eads - Final

Fat is an incantatory meditation on the stresses and the overwhelming struggle of owning a body. Through a series of “exercises,” the speaker in these poems strains to live up to the expectations placed on him to shape his body to meet the desires of society and suitors. “I practice being left, it’s an exercise.” Ultimately, the hunger to be loved will consume you. “My brain eats / up all my faith; / body responds.”
